I. Product Introduction
Ferrous sulfate (also known as green vitriol), with the molecular formula FeSO₄·7H₂O. Ferrous sulfate is prone to oxidation in humid air, turning yellow or rust - colored. It is soluble in water. Generally, the concentration of the ferrous sulfate solution prepared is around 10%. As a coagulant, it forms large coagulation particles with good hydrophobicity, which settle rapidly. It has an excellent decolorization effect. The cost of ferrous sulfate as a treatment agent is low, and it is suitable for treating wastewater with a pH value above 8.5.

III. Product Uses
1. In the water treatment field: It is used for the flocculation, clarification and decolorization of printing and dyeing wastewater, papermaking wastewater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. Ferrous sulfate can also be used to treat high - alkalinity and high - chroma wastewater such as chromium - containing wastewater and cadmium - containing wastewater, which can reduce the substantial input of acid for neutralization.
2. Other uses: It can be used as a reducing agent in electroplating factories, etc., as a precipitating agent in printing and dyeing factories, etc., as a raw material for producing iron oxide red, as a raw material for pesticide factories, as a raw material for fertilizer factories, and for fertilizing flowers, etc.
IV. Usage Method
When using ferrous sulfate, first prepare it into a 5 - 10% aqueous solution and then add it to the raw water. Adjust the pH value of the raw water to 9 - 11 with lime, and the effect will be more ideal.
Under acidic conditions, add reducing agents such as ferrous sulfate, sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite, sulfur dioxide, etc. to reduce hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium. Then add sodium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, lime, etc. to adjust the pH value, so that trivalent chromium hydroxide precipitates and separates from the wastewater.
